In a case filed in Agra Cantt under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Nidhi was arrested in December 2020. (1985).
Nidhi, an eyewitness to the Sultanpuri death case who was travelling in the backseat of Anjali Singh’s scooter on the tragic New Year’s Eve, had previously been detained in connection with a drug trafficking case and was on bail, according to Delhi Police. However, according to the police, Nidhi was detained in December 2020 in connection with a case filed in Agra Cantt under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (1985).
She had brought ganja from Telangana, which had led to her being stopped and detained at the Agra train station. Along with Nidhi, two youngsters named Sameer and Ravi were also detained, according to the news agency ANI.
Police have, however, refuted claims that Nidhi was detained in connection with the Sultanpuri death case and that she was just contacted to assist with the investigation.
Harendra Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer), remarked, “There are reports that the police have arrested Nidhi. It is now clarified that she has been called to join the investigation.”
Following the release of more CCTV evidence showing Anjali Singh and Nidhi interacting with a person hours before the event, six people have already been detained, and one has already turned himself in. Following the arrests of Deepak Khanna (26), Amit Khanna (25), Krishan (27), Mithun (26), and Manoj Mittal, the police focused on Ashutosh and Ankush Khanna, alleging that they were involved in protecting the accused.
Anjali was struck by a car while riding a scooter in the early hours of the New Year, and the car carried her 12 kilometres from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala before killing her. After the incident, Nidhi “scared” herself and fell to the side, leaving the area. Nidhi revealed to the media on Tuesday that Anjali was intoxicated on the day of the event.

“She was in a drunken state but insisted on driving the two-wheeler. After being hit by the car, she came under the car and got dragged with it. I was scared, ran away, returned home, and didn’t say anything to anyone. It is the fault of the girl who was driving in an inebriated state. I insisted that she shouldn’t drive. I told her, ‘I am conscious; let me drive’. She didn’t trust me and trusted herself instead,” Nidhi claimed.
On Wednesday, Rekha, Anjali’s mother, claimed that Nidhi had never crossed her path. She further denied the allegation that Anjali was intoxicated, asserting that Nidhi was lying and that Anjali never drank.
A forensic science laboratory representative said that Anjali’s post-mortem report did not specify whether or not alcohol was present in her body.
