At Chandrababu Naidu’s Andhra Roadshow, 8 people died after falling into a drain.

According to local authorities, numerous people died after falling into an open drainage canal.

In the Andhra Pradesh district of Nellore, eight people—among them a woman—died in a near-stampede while attending a roadshow by Chandrababu Naidu, the former chief minister of the state.

The Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, Mr. Naidu, was scheduled to speak at a meeting in Kandukur.

The rush began as Mr. Naidu’s convoy passed through the neighborhood in the evening. The large audience that had assembled rushed forward to get a better look at the leader.

According to local authorities, eight people perished after many fell into an open drainage channel.

The local hospital is providing care for those who were hurt.

The meeting was abruptly canceled by Mr. Naidu, who also offered a 10 lakh rupee settlement for the relatives of the deceased. He has also requested that the injured receive better medical attention from the party leaders.
