Jharkhand Actor Riya Kumari’s Husband Was Arrested One Day After She Was Shot Dead at Point-Blank Range

West Bengal police detained Riya Kumari alias Isha Alia’s husband, Prakash Kumar, after her family filed a complaint accusing him of torturing her.

Following a complaint submitted by her family, police arrested her husband, Prakash Kumar, on Thursday, a day after Jharkhand actor Riya Kumari alias Isha Alia was allegedly shot dead in West Bengal’s Howrah district.

“He was detained based on a complaint filed by the girl’s relatives and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence. “An investigation is underway,” said Superintendent of Police Howrah (Rural)

The actress went to Kolkata from Ranchi on Wednesday with her husband and their two-year-old daughter. Her husband initially informed authorities that she was shot during an attempted highway robbery, but the police noted inconsistencies in his testimony.

Kumar was arrested on Wednesday night after a lengthy interrogation, according to police. On Wednesday, the actor’s family arrived in Bagnan and filed a complaint against him.

The principal findings of the post-mortem examination, according to the police, show that Kumari sustained a bullet wound near her right ear and was shot dead at point-blank range.

Kumar is a film producer, but Kumari has appeared in albums in Khortha, a Jharkhand dialect.

Kumar informed police that they were attacked after he pulled over at the Mahishrekha bridge on National Highway 16 in Bagnan’s Rajapur region at around 6 a.m. to relieve himself.

“The husband claimed three men attacked him and tried to rob him, but his wife intervened. They possessed firearms and shot her before fleeing the scene. Such occurrences are uncommon in our state. Second, it was 6 a.m., and no one had observed anything ordinary.

Also, the spouse did not claim that they were being followed, and they were not carrying large sums of cash or valuables,” a police official added on condition of anonymity. “His remarks during interrogation were suspicious. “In addition, the deceased’s family filed a complaint saying that he tortured her,” the official added.

Prakash, the driver, informed police that Kumari jumped out of the car when she saw the robbers and tried to stop them, which is when they shot at her. He further stated that he drove roughly 3 kilometers with his injured wife to the Pirtala area under the Rajapur police station. According to him, he informed the local neighbors, who then informed the police. When the cops arrived, she was brought to Uluberia Hospital, where physicians proclaimed her dead.

Minister Firhad Hakim stated that the police would act quickly, find the perpetrators, and punish them severely. Meanwhile, BJP national vice-president Dilip Ghosh has slammed the TMC administration, stating that law and order in Bengal are deteriorating.
