Extortion case: Bollywood actor Jacqueline allegedly sought to leave the country and removed evidence from her phone

The court extends her provisional bail until the next hearing date.

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez allegedly attempted to flee the country and destroyed evidence from her cell phone, according to the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

An official stated on Saturday that the ED made this argument in opposition to the actor’s bail request in connection with a money laundering case involving a Rs 200 crore extortion matter involving multimillionaire conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

She removed data from her phone, according to ED records that are in the hands of The IANS.

She acknowledged erasing important evidence from her phone and telling others to do the same, which constitutes tampering with the evidence. She also attempted to leave abroad, according to the ED.

According to the ED, it was discovered during the inquiry that Jacqueline took advantage of the profits of the crime that the principal accused (Sukesh Chandrashekhar and Leena Maria Paul) had gotten by extorting money from Aditi (wife of Shivinder Singh).

She removed data from her phone, according to ED records that are in the hands of The IANS.

The ED claimed that Jacqueline did not assist the investigative team and had only provided information when faced with statements and evidence.

Jacqueline initially refuted Chandrashekhar’s claim that he had bought her parents two cars, but on December 12, 2021, she finally acknowledged it. She added that her sister’s account had been credited with $1,72,913.

Interim bail was granted to Fernandez. Regular bail has not been set for her. The court has extended her provisional bail till the next hearing date.
