Ghee On Your Chapattis. Is this healthy?

A liberal smear of ghee on piping hot chapatis may fix virtually anything. Several Indian households, particularly in the north, treat chapatis with ghee practically as a ritual. That is not to say that you should start brushing a jar full of ghee on your daily chapattis, but ghee in moderation may do wonders for your general health.

Health: Let’s face it. A liberal smear of ghee on a heated chapati will fix practically anything. Several Indian households, particularly in the north, treat chapatis with ghee practically as a ritual. That is not to say that you should start slathering ghee on your chapattis, but ghee in moderation can do wonders for your general health. Ghee is used extensively in Indian cooking.

When trying to lose weight, we often consider eliminating ghee from our meals entirely. Our moms and grandmothers have often underlined the importance of eating rotis with ghee; as we now know, they may have had good cause to do so.

According to experts, ghee aids in lowering the Glycemic index of the chapatti. It makes you feel fuller, preventing you from overindulging in other fattening foods later in the day. When carried in a tiffin, chapattis with a generous ghee spread stay softer for extended periods.

“According to a recent study, around 4 tablespoons of oil is an appropriate quantity of saturated fats in each meal. Thus one percent of the saturated fats could be derived from sources such as ghee.” The use of ghee improves the digestion of the chapatti.

According to Macrobiotic Nutritionist and Health Practitioner Shilpa Arora, replacing ghee with refined oils is one of modern cooking’s most significant errors. “Ghee has fat-soluble vitamins, which aid with weight loss,” she says.

Ghee is also essential for hormone balance and maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. It has resulted in significant health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Ghee also has a high melting point, which keeps free radicals from damaging cell function.”

Did you know that Bollywood actress and style icon Kareena Kapoor uses ghee? Kareena has frequently stated that her grandmother cannot comprehend eating roti without ghee. ‘My Dadi Ji is 85 years old and has been eating ghee since she was two.’ She has kept her weight the same between her twenties and her eighties. She is fit as a fiddle, walks around, and her knees haven’t given way.”

Kareena disclosed during the book launch of Rujuta Diwekar’s ‘Pregnancy Notes’ that she ate her regular dal with a dollop of ghee even when pregnant. So go ahead and brush some ghee on your rotis. Ensure to do it sparingly with the quantity; a small teaspoon for one roti is about right. Excessive activity is damaging to the body.
