The two boyhood friends, who grew up in Dubai, first created Kiranakart, an online platform that delivered groceries from local Mumbai retailers. It was in service from June 2020 to March 2021.
Then, in November, they raised $60 million in a first investment round to launch Zepto in April 2021. In December, the rapid grocery delivery business secured $100 million at a valuation of $570 million. In May of this year, Zepto raised $200 million at a valuation of $900 million in its most recent fundraising round.
