Doctors confirmed that she had been raped and sexually assaulted. She died on August 16, the same day she was admitted to a private hospital, and was buried in Jabalpur.
According to ASP Jabalpur Pradeep Kumar, the victim’s father failed to file a complaint against the victim’s cousins, alleging that on Tuesday, his daughter was raped and thrashed by her two cousins and that her mother was also raped by one of the accused.
On Tuesday, police exhumed the victim’s body. According to the authorities, a medical check of the grandma discovered signs of rape.
The victim’s relatives have been charged with rape under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. One of the defendants has been caught, while the other is still at large.
An investigation is underway. Police are currently questioning the private hospital workers who treated the victim.
